One of the best ways to attract clients is to establish yourself as an expert. There are a number of ways to establish yourself as an expert. These include speaking, writing articles, writing a book, writing a booklet, or writing for someone else's newsletter or magazine. [Updated 4/6/05]

It is important to clearly define your area of business interest - your niche -before you even try to establish yourself as an expert. If your niche is too large, it will be harder to establish yourself as an expert and you won't be as successful attracting clients to your nursing business.

While it may seem counterintuitive that the smaller your niche the more business clients you will attract, this is certainly the case. And while you may be able to attract clients outside your niche, it is easier to attract clients who want services in your area of expertise if the area is narrowly defined.

So begin now to define your business niche and begin thinking about how you will establish yourself as an expert in this niche. Within the next week, take at least two actions that will begin to establish you as a expert in your niche.
