What does complaining less have to do with building your business?
I have previously written about "What gets measured, gets attention". Similarly, "What gets verbalized, gets your brains attention." The more you talk about what's going wrong, the more your brain focuses on that. Focus instead on what is going right and do more of that or make that work for what is not working. Just as Marcus Buckingham talks about the importance of focusing on your strengths to produce near perfect performance, the same is true for focusing on what is going right. This doesn't mean that you should never focus on what is going wrong so you can correct it. It is more about not complaining. If you are going to complain and not do anything about it, then don't even get started. If you want to make a legitimate request vs. offer a complaint, this is acceptable. An example would be "Could you have the kitchen heat up this soup. I would prefer it warmer than it is." This concept was recently introduced by Christ Church Unity in Kansas City, MO. For more information go to http://ccunitykc.org/. You can even order your purple bracelet at this site. Be patient, it is taking them awhile to get the free bracelets out to all who are requesting them.
