Build your list
You need a list, the bigger the better! To get people to buy from you, you must first start with a list of potential customers. When you're first in business, especially a service business, your primary goal will be to build this list. You will not be making sales. Your potential customers need a good reason to be on your list. You need to give them something so valuable that they feel they will miss something important if they are not on the list. You could have valuable information in a newsletter. What would make this information valuable would be if it helps to save the readers money or time. As they read your information they will get to know you and your style and become more comfortable with you and begin to trust you. Make it obvious that you have an exclusive list. They have to "opt-in" to get on your list. However, you want them to understand that you would like them to encourage their peers to also join your list. By maintaining contact with the people on your list you will convert some of these people into your future customers.
