What to do when business is slow
LeaRae Keyes, RN

Typically there are slow times in every nurse entrepreneur business. December may be a time that your business is slow. For other nurse entrepreneur businesses the slow time may be in the summer. Whenever it occurs in your business there are a number of things you can do that will benefit your business later in the year. You can do these activities whether you are starting a new business or building your current business.

When you meet with friends over the holidays, ask them for their impressions about the business you are planning to start or about your current business. You can also ask them about unmet needs that you could fill with your business or by tweaking your business slightly.

This is also a time when you could shop your competition to determine what services they are providing, and at what cost. You could also research trends in your industry.

A slow time is a perfect time to look at your business and marketing plans and revise them or write them for the first time if you are just starting a business. Part of revising these plans would also be to look at your pricing structure. Take a look at the article How Much Should I Charge for information to be sure you are charging enough to be sustainable.
