Sell your outcome
LeaRae Keyes, RN

Many nurse entrepreneurs try to sell their services. However, you will be more successful if you sell your outcome.

Your customers don't want to know so much about what you have to offer. They want to know what your services will do for them. A list of a bunch of services that you provide is not what will convince your potential customers to buy from you. What will convince your potential customers to buy is when they know what they will actually gain by purchasing your services.

Don't make your customer's work hard to figure out what they will gain. Tell them what they will gain. Make it easy for them to understand the direct value of your services to them or their business. They want to know WIIFM (What's in it for me?).

To be as successful as possible, do not tell them what you have to offer, how you offer it, and what it will cost. Instead tell them about the outcomes, benefits and values they will receive from purchasing your product or service.

They don't care how you do it. They care about what your nurse entrepreneur service or product will do for them. What results will they get and what will it mean to them and their business.

Action steps:

  1. Make a list of what you have to offer.
  2. Now list what result your customer will receive from purchasing that service or item.
  3. Identify what it will do for them (value) when they experience this result.
  4. Sell these results and value(s).
