If you can afford it always own the latest technology. Technology has the powerful ability to make you more productive and thereby allow you to feel you have more time in your day. Wouldn't we all like to buy more time? Well, the way you can do that is to have the latest technology.

Entrepreneurs, including nurse entrepreneurs, tend to be early adapters and to see the possibilities. Technology offers so many possibilities to increase efficiency. Did your business have a fax machine, a scanner, copier, lap top, cell phone, digital camera, wireless sniffer, and PDA early on? Do you have the latest software, a Blackberry, and a GPS navigation system?
 
Since my business depends on technology so much I have no problem justifying upgrading or buying new technology. I had not realized how much I would enjoy having the AT&T navigator on my cell phone. It has made my life so much less stressful since I travel frequently to unfamiliar places as a nurse case manager.

As I write this I am waiting for my new Dell computer to be delivered. I am looking forward to my increase in efficiency since it will be faster than my current computer AND I will be able to have 2 monitors.

What technology upgrades or purchases can you make to increase your efficiency? How much new business would you need to bill out to pay for this equipment? Can you bill out that extra work in less than a year? Can you justify making the purchase? If you can, what are you waiting for?
