At first reading this may sound like an oxymoron. However, sales and marketing do not have to be a chore. You can develop a marketing plan based on your strengths so that it is something you enjoy doing, or at least do not hate doing.

One of the first things to do is to write your marketing plan. You can write a marketing plan for a product or a service. To be the most effective a marketing plan should be in writing.

When you first begin, plan to write your marketing plan for one year. Later you may choose to plan for five or ten years. Having a marketing plan can be the difference between your business succeeding or failing. Your plan will detail the necessary actions you will be taking that relate to your marketing objectives.

You can use the monthly marketing plans on the Nurse Entrepreneur Network to give you ideas for your marketing plans. You do not need to include everything that you find in these sample marketing plans. However, you can pick and choose those activities that most appeal to you. What on the plans sounds the most fun to you? It isn't so important what you choose. What is important is that you choose and actually implement these actions.

One of the keys to your success as a nurse entrepreneur will be to take action every day to sell your nursing product or nursing service. Plan at least 10 actions you will take daily or weekly. Be sure to set time aside as you plan your day for these marketing activities.

Your business marketing plan may be a part of your overall business plan for your nurse business. If you have not yet written your marketing plan for 2009, set a due date for completing this plan. Without a written marketing plan you are surely leaving money on the table!
